Magician Teaches Kids Secrets of Success.

Magician Bruce Amato Teaches Tools for Success

In a recent show at Kenwood Elementary in the Clarksville, Tennessee area, he invited kids tothrow invisible quarters into a drinking glassdemonstrating they were all”rich in character,” he explained that attitude and effort are essential — using alphabet blocks and sleight of hand, and even suspended a student between two chairs toemphasize the importance of maintaining balance for personal success.

Bruce has been amagician for 32 years, and according to a very nice article in The Leaf Chronicle, “does between 500 and 600 shows a year, primarily in schools and at libraries during summer reading programs.” Like most of us — and perhaps those in his audience — he fell in love with magic as a child.

His heart is clearly in the right place, “I see magic as a tool, a vehicle for getting the message out there,” he said. “And it’s fun … it’s the creativity part of coming up with new shows every year that’s a blast.

“But my favorite trick is watching kids’ faces light up and their smiles and laughter.”

Brucewas also an American Representative of the Supreme Magic Company of England and heads WizWorks Magic Company.

Treasury Sec Nominee is Magician

John Snow – Magician/Treasurer

It takes guts to admit to take on the position of U.S. Treasury Secretary; especially now. The markets are in turmoil, Wall Street is looking for leadership and certainty. The critics are checking the credentials of every nominee. John Snow has been forthright in his disclosure that he is, and has been, a magician.

During high-level meetings with Jeff Lowenfels, former head of Yukon Pacific. During the course of the meeting, Lowenfels performed a trick wherein he made sugar vanish from a sugar packet.

Our future Treasury Secretary was amazed and refused to allow Lowenfels leave the table until he taught the trick to Snow. Snow learned it and apparently finds enjoyment in watching, learning and performing magic.

In an unrelated story, equipment to perform the miser’s dream has been bought up from all Washington D.C. magic stores. Said one store owner, “it was weird, some guys with trench coats came in, asked if I had the trick and didn’t even ask how much. They bought every one I had.” The Dow Industrials were up on the news of the increased sales of magic equipment used to effortlessly produce money.

Magician Helps Shoppers Avoid Pickpockets

Eric Brouman

Eric Brouman is well-known to his corporate clients and to his television audiences. He hasperformed three world tours and opened for the big stars in entertainment. Now he is in the malls.

He has taken those skills used to amaze to demonstrate how easily pickpockets can use sleight of hand to steal from shoppers as they rush towards the final shopping days.

He demonstrated how easily the pickpocket can turn a shopper into a victim.”He took a pair of gloves out of a man’s jacket pocket while the man was waiting on a customer.”

Eric adds additional tips at his website ericbrouman.com. You may want to wait before going to the safety tip page on his site — due to the popularity of the news story, the link is virtually impossible to get to as of 10:30 Tuesday night.

Even if you don’t need the safety tips, you should check out the site. Very well done and certainly demonstrates he has the talent that ranks him highly in the professional circuit.

I’ve added the site to our Links of Fame.

David Ben: Canada’s Magician Keeps on Rolling

David Ben

David Ben has success in his pursuit of performing entertaining magic without pretension. His approach, he tells the Star: “I want to restore the wonder and the mystery and the artistry of my chosen field,” says the 41-year-old Ben, “which is what I think Harry (Potter)is doing by going back and rediscovering the sources of magic in his world.”

David moved from the magic of Tax Law to the presentation of magic on stages and has been well-received at The Shaw Festival in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario and then in Toronto.

He points out that the show is new; with many new illusions including some not seen in 80 years.

There is a difference between David’s approach and to those of the southern neighbors. “A lot of magicians in the States,” he notes disapprovingly, “are now surrounding themselves with an aura of mysticism and trying to pretend they have special powers. They’re afraid to say `This is just an act.’ I’m not. I exult in the theatricality of it all.”

This appears to be a show not to miss. His prior performances of The Conjuror received fine reviews and the idea of his improvement on that show makes attendance almost mandatory.

He also has a great webiste at http://www.davidben.com/. I’ve added it to the Links of Fame. Very professional — just what you’d expect.

Copperfield is Back!

David Copperfield

Just a few hours after he collapsed and was taken to the hospital for what appeared to be exhaustion, David Copperfield was back at what he does best.

The review in the Saskatoon Star Tribune of his show is glowing. “To those who had paid as much as $80 a ticket to experience him at Centennial Auditorium, it was a relief to see the magician in top form.” He apparently performed his entire act without change at both of the scheduled shows.

“Tired or not, this guy really is amazing,” the reporter noted.

Apparently David’s presentation of his Grandfather’s dream of winningthe lottery to purchase a Lincolnwas very well received. The effect is very touching andamazing and yet was panned by critics in the States just a week ago as “weak.” It is nice to see the effect receive the recognition it deserves. The Star Tribune critic wrote, “While you were busy picking your jaw off the floor, Copperfield made the old Lincoln appear as well.”

It is also nice to have David back performing.
