Tim Hannig received a nice write-up in the Post-Tribune today.Mr. Hannig is featured performing for local schools with the ?Pro Kids Show? program. You may have read about the Pro Kids Show system in recent magic magazines. The principal of the school noted that the show not only ?celebrated the end of the grading period and also meets teaching requirements for building character in a fun way.?

David Copperfield?s traveling show An Intimate Evening of Grand Illusion continues to take the country by storm.Tonight he played two shows at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium in beautiful Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Herald-Sun conducted an interview with Mr. Copperfield through email in advance of his appearance and it is really pretty fascinating.
Consider the discussion about Dreams and Nightmares:
?HS: The show is based on people’s dreams. As someone who has been called a “living legend,” has traveled the world and has plenty of money, what is your dream?
DC: I am living my dream, and for that, I am grateful. I get to travel the world and perform my show every single night. I really cannot imagine or dream of something else that I would rather be doing.
HS: Speaking of dreams, what is your worst nightmare?
DC: Coming to the Memorial Auditorium in Raleigh and nobody being there. Of course, something going wrong with an illusion would be a nightmare. In 1982, I was doing a levitation illusion with a Ferrari and it fell, almost crushing me. There was no backup plan; it was very embarrassing. It did help the shows; I think people came to see if it would happen again.?
Mr. Copperfield writes that his greatest honor is that received on behalf of his Project Magic initiative. He developed the program in 1982 to assist in the mental and physical rehabilitation of patients… Continue reading Latest Magic News – January 15, 2004
Oz Pearlman is the ubiquitous magician seen on videos across the web all flowing from the font of magic that is Penguin Magic. When you click, ?Watch Movie? on the Penguin Magic website, you usually see Mr. Pearlman performing the routine. When you purchase an instant download effect, you will usually receive permission to watch Mr. Pearlman explain the secret and give you some tips on the best handling of the effect.
So what would an entire DVD of Mr. Pearlman be like? How does Inside Magic rate Mr. Pearlman’s Born to Perform Card Magic? Is it worth the price? Can you learn things differently or better than you could if you were reading a book from the library? If there are balloon animals, why don?t we have any balloon minerals? For the answer to many of these questions, please Read On . . .
I learned all of my sleight of hand from one man, Barry Gibbs. Before I met Mr. Gibbs at the age of 12, I knew two sleights: the Hindu shuffle; and a sleight in which I took great pride because I invented it, the Downs Palm.(Apparently T. Nelson Downs stole from me before I was born ? it could happen).Mr. Gibbs taught me the back palm, the front palm, the second deal, false shuffle and even the one-handed shuffle. He is left-handed so I learned my sleights left-handed. (Tim Quinlan: Bats Right, Throws Right, One Hand Shuffles Left, Smells Weird, Eats Like Pig).
Tonight, I went back to see both Tommy Wonder and Jon Armstrong at the World Magic Seminar.I was not officially allowed to see them ? I?m in group A so I should only watch on Group A nights. But I was willing to take the wrath of those in control just to see these two again.
A review?Sure, why not.
Maybe you are like me.Maybe not.Maybe you?ve read the hype about Tommy Wonder and wondered whether he was, as we say in the US, all that.Well, even if you?re not like me, I still felt the same way.You hear so much about him and his considerable accomplishments and you think, to yourself, how good can this guy be?He?s only human.
Last night, Monday, I got to see Mr. Wonder perform and I have to tell you he is worth the hype.He was incredible in both presentation ? sort of a self-effacing, humble style like Henry Evans ? and skill.
If you can talk the talk and do the walk, you?re doing well.Mr. Wonder is not only incredible but he is also much like Paul Daniels in that you could listen to him all-night.
When I was young I went to Disney World and saw the great audioanimtronics and I thought to myself, as all young boys must think, ?Wow, one day when I grow up, I?d love to hire one of those tech guys to make me one of those talking statues.I?d have it say really funny and nasty things. That would surely impress the girls.?
Now, I?m older and I realize I have no chance of impressing the girls, hiring an audioanimitronic engineer, slam-dunking a basketball, being elected a president of any country, marrying Marsha Brady, being the fifth Beatle, driving a NASCAR car through a shopping mall, appearing on Broadway in my one-man salute to Seamonkeysor mastering a center-deal.
Thanks to George Robinson, Jr., though, I do have a chance to own a statue that talks and does magic.
George has been working over a year to develop his Satyr. The effect sounds amazing and the concept is even more incredible.I won?t steal George?s thunder so I?ve included a link to his page where he describes the effect. It is not ready yet but it will be soon.
I think this would be a great piece to have on stage with you throughout your performance and use it intermittently.Leave it to Viking Manufacturing to do what I have always wanted.
