Weapon of Mass Destruction of Hate in India: K.S. Ramesh

K.S. Ramesh is a self-taught Indian magician profiled in the New Kerala Daily News for his ability and goals to not only preserve magic but to use it for noble goals. Mr. Ramesh, a member of the Magic Circle, is based in Bangalore but has performed throughout India and around the world. He notes, “Magic was born in India, but over a period of time it has been developed in the West.” But “[w]ithout official patronage, magic is a dying art in India.”

To foster the love and practice of magic, Mr. Ramesh has started an academy in Bangalore to teach young people who want to learn magic either as a career path or an enjoyable pastime. “At the academy, I, along with other practicing magicians, impart the basic skills and techniques of the profession to these youngsters,”

There are 60 full-time members of the academy and all work to promote magic as a serious art form use to entertain.

Mr. Ramesh is against those who would use magic to dupe the laity or claim they have extraordinary powers and thus promote various superstitions.
