Chains, Ropes, Boxes and Bags – None Can Hold Him

Michael Griffin has guts and skill. For those of us who perform silk acts, or close-up routines, doing death-defying escapes seems, well, unnecessarily dangerous. Michael doesn’t seem bothered by the very real danger presented by the escapes he undertakes.

 

One of the most interesting things about Michael — and the reason we hassled him for this interview — was his willingness to perform “Challenge Escapes.”

 

There aren’t many escape artists that still perform the Challenge Escape — willing to take on all comers and their innovative and allegedly unescapeable devices.

 

We’re honored that Michael would take the time to conduct this interview and wish him the best of luck and safe performances in the years ahead.

Alma Carey Seeks Sex-Symbol in S?ance

Alma Carey, well-known to magicians and fans of the Psychic Arts, will be front and center on Thursday, August 5th as she uses her skills to seek contact with Sex-Symbol Marilyn Monroe from the great beyond on the 42nd anniversary of her passing.

In the January, 2003 edition of Genii, Ms. Carey, Leo Kostka, and Jules Lenier are profiled in a story about The Magic Castle.  Ms. Carey is the first and, as far as we know, only female medium to perform the Houdini S?ance in The Magic Castle.

It is fitting, then, that she would attempt to communicate with one of the most popular and famous figures of our Hollywood heritage.  Marilyn Monroe took her life two score and two years ago this week.  Her spirit will be sought by Ms. Carey in the very spooky basement of the old Hollywood Museum
