Nicholas Einhorn ?Gets So Close.? Following up on the article published in yesterday?s Inside Magic Daily News, Nicholas Einhorn succeeded in his prediction of a headline. The newspaper?s reporters witnessed Mr. Einhorn seal his prediction of a future headline into an envelope, which was kept under lock and key in the Times Group safe.

Yesterday the slip of paper was removed from the envelope which was removed from the newspaper?s safe and read by the attending reporters. “Neighbours living in fear of yobs.” There was also an audio cassette in the safe on which Mr. Einhorn recorded, ?Alongside the headline will be a photograph of a small animal, perhaps a cat.”

Last week’s actual front page headline read “Woman lives in fear of gang” and contained a picture of a small dog. Mr Einhorn was delighted with his prediction. There has been no explanation of what a ?yob? is but it sounds neat.

J.B. Benn and Chris Korn to Star in New Series. Mr. Benn and Mr. Korn will appear in a new reality series ?that chronicles their adventures as they travel to different cities to perform and share tricks of the trade with other magicians.? Look for the show to premier on A&E this coming Monday.

Alain Nu, Mark Phillips and Bob Sheets will perform in the series.

“Wednesday Wizardry is part of our theater season,” said Wendy Woodland, an Arts Barn coordinator. “Our programming is diverse. Wednesday Wizardry, in its second season, continues to offer a variety of different magic shows introducing our theater audience to magic as a form of performance art.”

“The More the Merrier,” features four magicians including Puck, a regular on cruise ships and at theme parks; Barry Wood, a former headliner at Magicopolis in Santa Monica; Brian Curry, who has won awards at two international competitions and had creations published in magic journals; and Bob Sheets, an accomplished banquet performer.

Magician Rich Bloch will perform Nov. 3, and a comedy magic show by Thin Air, featuring Phillips and magician Karen Beriss, will be staged Nov. 17.

The Masters of the Impossible

Siegfried & Roy Release DVD. The duo?s new series is likely the impetus for the release of a DVD version of the 1996 show, Siegfried & Roy: Masters of the Impossible. The DVD contains a 76-minute animated feature with the magicians as action heroes (and voiced by other actors). Critics write, ?Ho-hum. But trivia fans will note that the story takes place in the land of Sarmoti, also the name of a lion on Father of the Pride. It’s an acronym for Siegfried And Roy Masters of the Impossible.?

Still, it will be a nice collector?s item.

“It’s A Dog!”

Any Animal as Long As It?s a Dog. Balloon twisters are featured in the Dallas News for their creativity and prolific ability. The paper features a group called ?G.O.T. (Gathering of Twisters) Balloons.?

?There are clubs for magicians and clubs for clowns, but we couldn’t find any clubs around here for balloon artists. I’ve got over 100 people on my e-mail list, and usually about 30 to 35 come each month.” This is serious ballooning. One of the participants told reporters, “I probably go through 4,000 to 5,000 balloons a month,” he said. “I’ve got a closet full of balloons.”

Many of the attendees, such as Michelle Moerbe-Black of Plano, use the craft when they’re clowning. She learned balloon-making from her mother, who was also a clown. “I’ve been making balloons since I was 6 years old.? Ms. Moerbe-Black is passing her balloon-making knowledge on to her 8-year-old daughter, Crimson.

“It’s a temporary art, and we know it,” Mr. Clendennen said. “They’re not going to last forever.”

Hans Klok — Better than “Tired, Old Copperfield?”

Hans Klok Praised. The performer called the ?fastest magician of all time” has arrived in Shanghai for his China debut tour, ?History of Magic.? Mr. Klok told reporters, ?I’ve never been to China before but there must be a huge interest in magic. For me it will be interesting to perform in China because it is such a different culture with that of Europe.?

Rapidity comes naturally to Mr. Klok. Letting his assistants or objects disappear and appear in the wink of an eye gets the entire audience into frenzy. In his latest ?History of Magic? show, Klok brings his stylish tricks close to the audience. In his current show, he pays homage to the great magicians of the past including Merlin, Dedi and Houdini.

?The idea was born in the beginning of 2001 and I have been working on the development of the individual acts since then. It requires meticulous timing, down to a tenth of a second. Everything interacts at high speed, between people, equipment, costume changes and sound.”

Mr. Klok?s promoter told reporters the magician is better than David Copperfield: ?Unlike Copperfield, Klok is actually in his heyday and that’s why we wanted to introduce him to audiences.? The reporter picks up on this theme: ?When Copperfield toured China in May, many people and local media said his illusions were no longer fresh or exciting and the box office was not so good as expected according to organizer Shanghai Poly Group Company.?

Whatever! Fortunately, Mr. Klok is a little more civil than his promoter.

Mr. Klok does not want to criticize Mr. Copperfield. He believes the American Illusionist paved the way for magic in Europe. ?That is the reason why my colleagues and I can go on tour like pop stars today. That would have been unthinkable only 10 years ago,” says Klok.
