Our Challenge to the Warren Commission

Coincidence? Open Your Eyes, Man!

Some of you already know this and some of you don?t and it should probably stay exactly as it is.  But
when Inside Magic began in the late 1990?s, we had just two missions;
and one of them was to bring you the latest magic news.

The
other mission involved our life-long goal of getting the investigative
community to re-open the Warren Commission to finally consider the
incredible ?coincidental? evidence that the late-Chung Ling Soo?s
murderous wife, Dot, was in Dallas before and after November 22nd, 1963.  You can read more about that mission and the compelling facts that demand an answer by reading on.

Our theory that she was tied-in to the assassination of  JFK has thus far been rejected by all ?credible? and ?fringe? conspiracy theorists.  Only the far, so-called, ?wacko element? has even taken the time to consider the following facts:

1.                  Chung Ling Soo was also known as William E. Robinson.  He wasn?t even Chinese.  Neither was John F. Kennedy, also known as ?Jack Kennedy.?

2.                  Lee Harvey Oswald, the alleged ?lone gunman,? traveled to Moscow in the months before the assassination.  At
the same time, Suee Seen…

The Long Walk – Pick a Card Cell

Here’s something interesting, you don’t need to speak Spanish in a border-town Mexican jail to be a full member of the inmate community. It was a shock to me, but then again, so was being arrested for a crime I did not commit (my lawyer requires me to say that, I really did do the crime but he doesn’t want me to admit it publicly, so I’ll play along).

The truth is that most of the guards, or “Screws,” speak English very well and almost all of the inmates are either American or have been to America enough to speak English. And there isn’t that ridiculous fascination with soccer in the jails, either. These guys were all interested in the pennant races and all had their opinions on whether it made any sense for Michael Vick to be playing so much in a pre-season game that resulted in his broken leg.

But that’s not all we talked about.

We all had our stories to tell; how we ended up where we ended up. What we would do differently next time (84% of the guys chose “not get caught” as their number one goal). Some of the men had families outside of the jail walls, over the border in McAllen, Texas, some had families south, towards Monterrey, Mexico and others apparently were happy with their family in the jail.

I met an old magician during my time there. Sammy “Snake” Sylvestri was a former kid show performer.

American Indian Medic Brings Magic and Relief to Tsunami Areas

Thai Children Watching Doc Rosen

Doc Rosen is a medic with the Emergency Air and Ground Lift and Evacuation Service Team (“EAGLES”),  a group of Native Americans dedicated to helping those affected by natural disasters or by war anywhere.

He brings magic as a way of connecting with victims and establishing rapport.  His small team worked in a small fishing village in the Phang Nga Province in Thailand.  That area was virtually destroyed by the December Tsunami.  Of the 6,500 villagers, 4,000 were dragged out to sea and drown.

”The kids flock around asking for magic tricks, as do the adults. The other aid workers say some have not smiled in weeks, but they are laughing as I do my sleight-of-hand,” Rosen told Indian Country Today in an e-mail from Thailand.

”Today an old man who lost his entire family, 16 people, smiled at me and then he asked me to ‘do the rabbit trick.”’

The Thai counselor said they thought they would lose him because he was not responding before this, but now he is talking again and eating.

Mr. Rosen describes how a young girl began calling him “Uncle” and told him that her favorite trick is the Magic Coloring Book.

According to the Thai counselors, “the magic tricks are the biggest step the kids have taken towards normalization.”

The International Festival of Magic is Ready

Oh Eun Young – Our Favorite Korean Magician

The International Festival of Magic is set to start this week in beautiful Singapore.  The festival will be held at the Kallang Theatre and feature shows for the public in addition to the magicians’ only presentations.

Lawrence Khong, Magician and Big Cheese of the Conclave, told Channel News Asia reporters he almost did not make it to this week, much less the festival.  While performing an underwater escape recently, he forgot to take into account the venue’s altitude and thinner air.

“We were performing in Genting for two weeks and because Genting is on a high ground, the air is thinner. We have this perfect timing. Before I run out of air I need to make the escape. But I didn’t realise the air thinner so I was trapped in there, running out of air before I was ready to get out. I knew I was in trouble and I started to bang the glass.”

This year’s International Festival of Magic promises three nights of world class acts by renowned magicians.

There will also be an Asian professional magic challenge where skilled magicians from China, Japan, Thailand and Singapore will pit their skills against one another.

Our favorite Korean Magician, Oh Eun Young, will be there and we wish we could be too.  Johnny Thompson and Murray, the Guy with the CDs will be appearing as well.

For those who want to discover the secrets behind the magic can also sign up for the convention and pick up some tips from the 170 international professionals that will be performing here.

MSU Magicians’ Club Features Rick Fisher

Our Email Angel, Monica

We just received a kind note from our friend and president of the Michigan State University Magicians’ Club, John Sturk.  We have never actually met Mr. Sturk but have enjoyed our correspondence.  Mr. Sturk writes that the MSU Magicians’ Club is planning a very special meeting this Wednesday, February 23rd

Rick Fisher, the Man, will attend to lecture on the history of magic in Colon, Michigan.  Mr. Fisher and his lovely wife, Cheryl, combined with Marilyn Abbott, to start the wonderful FAB Magic.  If you have not checked out the FAB Magic site recently, you owe it to yourself to click the link below.  We love the new products and the always-improving look to the site.  (The blinking product names cause minor seizures but we are willing to grit our mouth guard and enjoy it).

Ms. Fisher includes the latest magic news streamed live from Inside Magic through the Inside Magic News Feed.  If you would like to sign-up for the free news feed for your website ? and all of the cool sites are doing it now ? click the banner in the upper right-column on the Inside Magic webpage.  On the other hand, heck, click here.  It is free, it is easy, and you can customize it to match the look of your site.  There are no ads, no requirements for information, and no limitations.

Ms. Fisher has done an outstanding job putting together a fantastic website.  The graphics you see there are from her creative mind and the new effects are from their combined effort to continue the great tradition of magic in the Magic Capital of the World.

Mr. Fisher will present effects “from the diary of Percy Abbott.”  We would love to see this presentation.  Unfortunately, we are at our winter quarters in Gibtown (“Gibsonton, Florida”) assembling next year’s tour and won’t be able to attend.  We had to sell our fifth interest in…
