Fungus, Mouth Magic and Tapeworm Manipulation: Letters to Editor

It’s All Magic, Until Somebody Gets Hurt!

It
is the policy of Inside Magic to publish those letters or email

would rather just keep plugging along instead of dwelling on the past
or hearing different perspectives on issues it has already resolved.

Dear Sir or Madam:

What is a good method for doing a really public prediction.  Like I would like to predict the outcome of the Presidential election.  Do you have a favorite method?

Garlez, Apopka, Florida.

Dear Mr. Garlez:

Thank you for your note.  There are several great methods of performing a headline prediction.  One of our favorites is Dr. Dex Miracle in Your Mouth.  The
effect is stunning and because it involves a trick that starts a week
before it finishes, you can use the unique method that would otherwise
not work in a performance setting.

The effect, for those who are not familiar with Dr. Dex
stuff, you tell your spectators that you are able to see the future and
can actually predict who will win the upcoming election.  Unlike
other magicians or so-called seers who secretly write…

Houdini’s Magic Shop Leads the Way in Atlantic City

Houdini Ready for Pier Dive

We received a press release from the New Jersey Media Group announcing
the second phase of The Walk — a new development built on the
world-famous Boardwalk of Atlantic City.

Houdini’s Magic Shop will take its place along side Ruth’s Chris Steak
House, and PF Chang’s, within the $245,000,000.00 Tropicana Casino and
Resort’s spot, The Quarter.

The Houdini’s Magic Shop website says details are to be posted soon.

Interestingly, it is not far from the new shop site where Houdini
performed one of his more famous escapes. The Atlantic City Pier Museum
celebrates the history of the Boardwalk and reminds visitors the
address of “Number One Atlantic Ocean” was the literal jumping off spot
for Houdini’s Under-Water Escape performed in a tumultuous ocean.

Tom Breitkreuz: More than a Manager – He’s A Magic Clown

Tom Breitkreuz

The Press Enterprise of Moreno Valley profiles
magician/clown/city worker Tom Breitkreuz. The story asks the musical question,
“Who was that clown with the glasses and the mustache?”

Mr. Breitkreuz has performed at birthday parties, schools and city Park and
Recreation Department events for the past several years. He tailors his act
depending on the children’s age.

The clown act grew out of his juggling hobby, which he took up about 10 years
ago to entertain a grandson as well as to lower his blood pressure from the
stress of his job. Breitkreuz manages the city Public Works Department’s
enterprise services division. He administers community facilities districts that
provide landscaping maintenance or street lighting to neighborhoods, industrial
and parkway areas in Moreno Valley.

Being a clown allows Mr. Breitkreuz to give back to the community. He doesn’t
get paid for his act. “I do it for the joy of it and the response I get from
kids,” he said. “It keeps me out of trouble.”
