Hacked but We’re Back!

Female Hacker Attacks Inside Magic?Hacked!

Some have noticed that Inside Magic has been apparently dormant for a couple of weeks.  Perhaps, they thought, it was due to the holiday break or maybe Tim had gone on another bender.  Nay nay, we say.

We were hacked by someone, someone bad: Someone with too much time on their hands and technological sophistication sufficient to turn idle hands towards evil.

The site was hi-jacked by the hacker person so that the dedicated and decadent staff at Inside Magic was unable to get in.  We received a horrifying screen image each time we tried to enter and notification of our own impotence — a status about which we need no reminder, ever.

Finally, we restored the site to status quo ante, or so we thought.  As we attempted to enter the latest hub and bub from the world of Magic, we again met failure and our screen displayed the horrible image and notification that our expenditure of great funds for cleansing and refurbishment was for naught.

Melbourne’s Magic Age Featured in New Exhibit

The young, Australian museum curator Simon Gregg believes “the history of Melbourne as two parallel stories: one about the development of a modern-day metropolis and the other about the emergence of floating ladies, vanishing handkerchiefs, straitjacket escapes and a bottomless barrel of logic-defying tricks and illusions.”

Mr. Gregg is featured in a big way in Melbourne’s The Age for his new museum exhibit Hocus Pocus: Melbourne Magic, Mystery and Illusion.  The show starts next week, December 6, at the beautiful City Museum.   The focus is “the city’s so-called golden era of magic, from 1850 to 1950.”

Gold was discovered in Melbourne’s environs during the 19th Century.  And where there is gold, there are people.  And where there are people, there are audiences.  And where there is an audience, there is bound to be at least one magician.

Mr. Gregg believes Melbourne’s “emergence as a magic town came to be after the discovery of gold and the subsequent population explosion of the 1850s.”

Motor City Magic this Weekend

John Luka, the Motor City Magic Master, sends news that there is still some space available for the incredible Motor City Magic Convention in Detroit.
This is a must-attend event.
Mr. Luka’s twelfth iteration of what most agree is the close-up event of the year will be held this weekend, November 14th through the 16th at the perfectly appointed Ramada Inn of Taylor, Michigan.
If you are within driving distance of Detroit, and have interest in watching and learning top-notch magic with no fluff or downtime, you should attend.
Mr. Luka writes that “this will be one of the strongest line-ups of recent years. The magic WILL BE outstanding!”
